据介绍，首先要在微信小程序“智力运动考级”中注册成为麻将运动员，然后进入微乐四川麻将app考级，在线上获得业余6段，才有资格在3月份报名参加分别在北京、成都、杭州举行的“专业段位定段赛”，晋级后获得”中国麻将公开赛”的参赛资格。

实际上，去年11月，国际麻将联盟和中国棋院杭州分院就成立了麻将运动技术等级评定中心，同时出台了《麻将运动技术技能等级评定管理办法》。
根据该办法，任何一位普通麻将爱好者都可以注册成为麻将项目运动员。该消息一出便在互联网上引发热议。

截至目前，已有超过两百万名麻将爱好者正式注册成为麻将运动员，共有140名麻将运动员达到了业余9段这一最高业余段位。
对于麻将的推广和发展，还有网友表示，如果麻将能加入奥运会项目，那中国又要多几块金牌了。
中国人对麻将的热爱，世界皆知。年轻人休闲娱乐，可以打麻将；老年人打发时间，可以打麻将；邻里串门、亲朋团聚，可以打麻将……有网友调侃，“三缺一，才是中国人最大的恐惧。”
除了拜年和聚餐，一桌麻将更是春节期间社交娱乐的必选项目之一。
